Estimator – Sheet Metal

Overview

This role involves contributing to construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, mission-critical facilities, life sciences, office spaces, and hospitality. Estimators work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to develop accurate, constructible, and timely HVAC estimates. Responsibilities include project specification reviews, material take-offs, and developing trade-specific estimates for HVAC proposals. This role also supports process improvements, interfaces with project teams, and ensures high-quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform material and labor take-offs in compliance with project plans, specifications, and code requirements.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, field teams, and sales engineers during bids and throughout construction.
• Identify and address deficiencies or risks in estimates, providing timely solutions.
• Advise project teams on constructability based on industry experience.
• Source and qualify material and subcontractor bids per project documentation.
• Utilize estimating software such as QuoteExpress and FastDUCT to prepare accurate estimates.
• Support continuous improvement in estimating systems, processes, and bid accuracy.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to update productivity metrics and improve design / build workflows.
• Facilitate the use of typical estimating assemblies / modules.
• Update material and labor pricing in estimating systems as needed.
• Attend job review meetings to gather feedback on completed projects.
• Develop skills related to job duties and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
