What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Underwriter position at RB Jones?
Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow a book of marine business as part of the RB Jones Marine team
- Develop distribution strategy with Kaufman Group agency partners and continue to develop broker relationships
- Prequalify accounts and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound marine risks
- Underwrite, rate, quote and bind, profitable new and renewal marine business to meet goals in agreement with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
- Monitor key metrics in respect to new business hit ratio, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio
- Coach and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of marine underwriting experience required
- Wholesale, MGA or carrier experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
- Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
- Interest in continued education and professional development
- Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, AMIM or comparable designations preferred
