The California Bridge Academies is an employment & training program headquartered in Fresno and founded in 2010.
Since then it’s expanded services to include recipients of Kings County and Madera County. All California Bridge
Academies programs provide holistic support to unemployed and underemployed adults seeking to improve their lives through barrier removal and pathways towards career employment.
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
ROLE: Under the direction of the California Bridge Academy Program Manager, the Employment Readiness Navigator (ERN) will be responsible for creation and delivery of the curriculum for adult program participants. The goal of the program is to provide participants with additional skills to improve their employability. Content and instruction methods will be customized as needed to address each individual’s needs in accordance with program objectives. Program content will prepare participants with obtaining and retaining employment. Delivery of curriculum will be offered in a classroom environment, with one-on-one instruction offered as needed. The Employment Readiness Navigator will be responsible for working with CalWORKS case managers in order to ensure clients are making progress toward employment and CalWORKS program goals. The success of the program will be measured by the number of participants retained in program, graduating, and obtaining employment opportunities.
The purpose of Reading and Beyond’s California Bridge Academy Programs is to help under-qualified, job-seeking parents/adults increase their job skills through participation in a job training program that will ultimately help them secure permanent employment.
The Employment Readiness Navigator position is crucial to the success of the California Bridge Academy and must be able to develop, strengthen, motivate and maintain relationships with program participants. This position requires a high- energy, flexible individual with patience and interpersonal skills. They should also be resourceful, empathetic and fast learner

1. Creatively develop and implement a Job Readiness curriculum with program participants.
2. Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate those objectives to participants.
3. Tailor teaching methods and instructional material to meet students learning needs, abilities and interests.
4. Encourage participants to engage in activities to increase their abilities to effectively job search and practice job readiness skill sets.
5. Prepare material and classroom for workshops activities
6. Observe and evaluate students work to determine progress and to identify areas of improvement.
7. Provide job readiness training and instruction to small groups and additional one-on-one sessions
8. Develop and implement a plan to retain program participants once enrolled.
9. Use computers and other equipment to supplement workshop material
10. Maintain participant records and complete required documentation/reporting, including any and all requests of funders and/or program evaluators.
11. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures to create a strong learning environment
12. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with peers in development of programs and services
13. Network with other providers/organizations to generate community resources for participants.
14. Develop and perform mentoring, coaching and follow up strategies to ensure retention of participants.
15. Partner with other CFNs to conduct outreach activities to engage new participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience in tutoring adults. Some college considered with considerable additional relevant experience.
2. Strong competency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet skills.
3. Minimum one year of work in creating and facilitation of adult education curriculum
4. Experience with hiring or considerable knowledge about hiring practices preferred.
5. Bilingual strongly preferred.
6. Excellent community-building and communication skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with peers and clients, encourage, motivate, and coach others.
8. Experience with at-risk populations, including low-wage earners, working families or others disadvantaged populations preferred.
9. Experience working with departments of human/social services and community based organizations serving disadvantaged populations preferred.
10. Able to work independently, problem-solve, multi-task, time-manage, and set priorities to accomplish tasks.
11. Strong competency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet skills.

13. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed, as well as some travel.
14. Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State.
15. Must pass pre-employment investigation including TB clearance and fingerprint clearance.
16. Ability to utilize appropriate computer based software to develop and modify curriculum.
