- The sonographer performs Ultrasound procedures according to established protocol to obtain diagnostic information as ordered by a licensed physician or their designated health care provider.
- The Sonographer provides information to the patient about the purpose of the ultrasound procedure and responds to the patient's questions and concerns.
- The Sonographer recognizes the patient's individuality and provides quality care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner using professional and ethical judgment.
- The diagnostic medical sonographer maintains continued competence through lifelong learning, which includes continuing education, acquisition of specialty specific credentials, and recredentialing.
- The diagnostic sonographer working in the department of Radiology is required to perform diverse imaging across the spectrum of sonography.
- Must have 1-2 years of working experience
Education Requirements
- Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
- Post High School Diploma Program
- Relevant Experience
- BLS Certification
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (OB or AB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S)
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RVT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(VS) is obtained within 18 months of hire
