The Application Engineering Manager will lead and develop the Application Engineering team along with Specials Estimating and Order Entry. This role is responsible for the on-time delivery of accurate custom application specifications, quotes and orders to meet customers’ needs.
The Nuts and Bolts
- Manage the daily workload of Application Engineers, Estimators and Order Entry team members
- Provide leadership and accountability for achieving engineering objectives in cost, quality, delivery, performance, and safety
- Maintain the process and standards for specifying and quoting customer needs
- Maintain quote accuracy and profitability standards
- Report on department KPI’s and project status
- Collaborate with customers and sales team members to ensure needs are met in a timely manner
- Responsible for the accuracy of information being provided to internal and external customers
- Responsible for leading the organization and success of pre-build and pre-inspection meetings with our operations facilities
- Manage the travel schedule for the Application Engineers
- Responsible for compliance and regulation adherence
- Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, train, and develop new employees
- Ensure engineering staff provides customer support before, during, and after the sale
- Create and modify 3D models and AutoCAD drawings for assemblies, parts, schematics, etc.
- May perform structural analysis for new and existing engineered components
