Summary of Description:

Perform tasks related to the development and tracking of schedules.


Duties:

  • Gather and input data into scheduling software programs.
  • Maintain schedule and update, as needed.
  • Gather and analyze information to prepare reports.
  • Evaluate critical path, manpower, resources, and equipment.
  • Report to a Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), with additional specialized training or college course work and at least eleven (11) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Specific Skills:

  • Advanced MS Excel training and knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of field construction and plant maintenance activities,
  • Understanding of schedule controls methodology.
  • Extensive knowledge of resource monitoring techniques such as CPM networks, plus understanding of construction technology, process systems and structures.
  • Able to develop schedule from documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Problem recognition and problem resolution skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Summary of the duties of the position: 

The Routine Maintenance Planner Scheduler supports the function of the plant maintenance group by developing job plans and work schedules, and assisting in management of the maintenance budget. Work requires good technical, analytical, and communication skills applied with a reliability mindset.


Primary responsibilities for this position:

  • Develop work packages to assure:
  • Safety hazards are identified and safe work practices are followed
  • Required job time estimates by craft are entered in SAP and scheduled through Prometheus in logical sequence with necessary ties between job steps
  • Required parts are ordered and available for execution
  • Required special tools, equipment, and/or outside resources are available for execution
  • Required permits and procedures are identified (LOTO, Confined Space, Line Break, Hot Work, etc.)
  • Monitor and manage work backlogs with Operations Lead
  • Review new work orders created daily and check for quality
  • Create and maintain equipment history files with necessary information to prevent future work delays or equipment downtime
  • Group work orders for the same equipment or lock-out together to optimize utilization of resources and reduce costs
  • Interface with Operations Lead for work priorities
  • Update status of work orders as they flow through the maintenance work process
  • Create/update task lists for repeatable job tasks
  • Utilize DMS system to assure job plans are in compliance with specs and procedures
  • Work with suppliers to assure that the plant is consistently receiving quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost
  • Communicate BOM discrepancies to Maintenance Engineer
  • Interface with Maintenance Engineers and Maintenance Supervisors for job plan reviews as required
  • Communicate with Maintenance Supervisors to update available resource capacities by Work Center for the following weeks.
  • Schedule to 100% resource capacity
  • Attend Thursday afternoon operations meeting in the control room to validate the following week’s schedule
  • Serve as SME to provide technical support for job plans
  • Seek feedback from craftspeople for continuous improvement of job plans
  • Attend all required GMS meetings
  • Timely completion of Goods Receipts for service contractors


Secondary responsibilities for this position:

  • TECO completed work orders
  • Backup other maintenance planners on their days off
  • Support Turnaround Work Process Planning and Execution
  • Be the available maintenance resource for the Operations Lead for all future needs

Required Education/Experience/Certifications Required/Sought: 

  • 5 years of maintenance craft experience in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • In lieu of relevant experience an engineering degree in the appropriate discipline is desirable
  • Maintenance planning experience of fixed and rotating equipment preferred
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to determine equipment problems and appropriate solutions in swiftly developing job plans
  • Experience with MS Office, Excel, SAP, and Prometheus preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering departments in written and verbal form
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with personnel including operators, vendors, contractors, peers, and superiors
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, climb ladders and stairs, and lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform tasks on elevated structures
  • Exhibit individual initiative and constantly seek improvement
