POSITION SUMMARY:
The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership and direction of the front-line workers in their day-to-day tasks within the recycling plant. Specific responsibilities include safety, production planning, quality assurance, equipment, and facilities maintenance, shipping, and other production-related activities. Works with the Plant Manager to create daily production plans and supervises the execution of those plans through direction, coaching and motivation to assure optimum performance related to space utilization, inventory availability, plant, and productivity cost efficiencies. Assists the Plant Manager as needed with HR matters concerning employees working in the area of production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety
- Personally demonstrate and cultivate a “Safety First” culture in the plant.
- Strive to ensure that all employees are aware of, and continuously coached on the importance of company safety processes, and how they benefit from a safe working environment
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc).
- Assist with the facilitation, review, and file of the “Daily Safety Huddle” and Lead OSHA monthly safety training and properly file documentation.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
- Monitor employees to ensure safety guidelines are followed at all times.
Production Planning
- Works closely with the Plant Manager to develop daily production plans that ensure maximum production efficiency to ensure the total plant objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Communicates daily work plan to frontline employees and ensures proper execution of the plan.
- Work closely with the Plant Manager to effectively manage labor based on workload, to achieve daily efficiency goals.
- Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements
- Work closely with Plant Manager to submit reports on performance and progress.
- Coaching of production employees on how to upgrade material to get a better sell value.
Quality Assurance
- Gain an understanding of customer material specifications and document all material rejections by customers.
- Gain detailed knowledge on all materials that can possibly be upgraded/regraded to ensure they are being handled in such a way to maximize margin.
- Perform daily material audits to ensure a quality product is being delivered to the customer
- Make sure product meets spec when baled as well as ultimately shipped/sold.
Equipment and Facilities Maintenance
- Oversee daily/weekly/monthly inspection checklists of all equipment.
- Maintain RMR facilities up to company standards, including grounds and employee break areas and restrooms.
- Work in tandem with maintenance tech to manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
Human Resources
- Collaborate and document all discussions with employees concerning safety, pay, employee relations with Human Resources.
- Partner with Human Resources to ensure that plant employees get requested information and/or concerns addressed by HR.

Travel Demands: Anticipated travel is approximately between 0% and 10%.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma Required Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a related operations role.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.
