Description
Come work on Mauis most luxurious vessels, offering the “highest of royalty” at sea. RED Hospitality and Maui Dive Shop are currently hiring CAPTAINS for all charters and onboard/in-water experiences. Applicants must be dependable USCG licensed captain, with strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and enthusiasm in providing the highest level of hospitality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE):
- Ensure a safe operation of USCG Inspected Vessel – Powerboats and sailboats
- Responsible for all crew and passengers’ safety while under way and on the dock
- Drive support vehicles, including a PUC van, to the harbor, if needed
- Delegate and accounts for all pre-trip provisioning, preparation and vessel inspection, post trip cleaning and resupply.
- Ensure crew delivers an enjoyable, guest centric and luxury experience throughout the excursions (includes food and beverage).
- Assist guests with gear set up, fitting snorkel gear, and providing snorkel instructions
- Monitor and guide dive leaders always maintaining MDS dive profiles while on the dive boat
- Account for and report routine maintenance and critical maintenance needs
- Understand and adhere to all accident and emergency policies and procedures
- Train coworkers in Deckhand duties following company standards
- Report all injuries and accidents to the Director of Dive Operations on the same day, with completed paperwork
- Manage assigned crew member(s)
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current USCG credential – Captains

- Master 100 Ton near coastal; Sailing endorsement required for Alii Nui
- Master 25 Ton for Koa Kai
- TWIC Card
- Current First Aid/CPR w/ AED and Oxygen Provider
- FCC Marine Radio Operator’s Permit

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to walk on various types of surfaces including rough terrain, sitting, standing, maintaining balance, on the beach, and in the water, and working alone.
- Must be able to work various work settings such as exposure to sunlight and outside temperature.
- Must be able to lift 75lbs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the work.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations and safe practices.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment, read and interpret documents.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.
- Must be able to operate with little or no supervision.
- Must be willing to work holidays, nights, and weekends.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
- Team player, positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Previous sailing experience is a plus
- Knowledge of local destinations and local weather patterns is a plus
- Basic knowledge of maintenance of vessels a plus
Salary : $21 - $24
