Substance Use Disorder Treatment (SUDT) Counselor
One (1) Full-Time/40hrs/Non-Exempt/$22.05 - $29.40 per hour (DOE)
Pay differentials offered - must qualifying through testing or verification for the following special competencies.
*Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish ($1.00 per hour)
*Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language - Interpret from American Sign Language (ASL) to English, and English to ASL. ($1.00 per hour)
Provides substance abuse assessment and counseling in a residential environment to women (who may attend treatment with their children) by performing the following duties. Facilitates and conducts programs for participants in ways to reduce the negative impact of the use of chemical and alcohol involvement.
Must be able to provide written verification of experience upon hire. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and electronic health record desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Work schedule varies, work hours includes weekdays and weekend shifts. Bilingual preferred, not required.
Education/Experience:
Current certification as an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselor from the State of California approved certifying organization OR
Possession of registration to obtain certification as an AOD Counselor by the State of California approved certifying organization, and the completion of the certification as an AOD Counselor within five (5) years from the date of registration.
Qualifications:
- TSS III – Intern: Possession of registration to obtain certification as an AOD Counselor by the State of California approved certifying organization, and the completion of the certification as an AOD Counselor within five (5) years from the date of registration.
- Substance Use Counselor I: Current certification as an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselor from the State of California approved certifying organization.
- OR Possession of registration to obtain certification as an AOD Counselor by the State of California approved certifying organization, and the completion of the certification as an AOD Counselor within five (5) years from the date of registration with 1 -2 years’ experience.
- Substance Use Counselor II: Current certification as an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselor from the State of California approved certifying organization.
- OR Possession of registration to obtain certification as an AOD Counselor by the State of California approved certifying organization, and the completion of the certification as an AOD Counselor within five (5) years from the date of registration with 3-4 years’ experience.
- Substance Use Counselor III: Current certification as an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselor from the State of California approved certifying organization.
- OR Possession of registration to obtain certification as an AOD Counselor by the State of California approved certifying organization, and the completion of the certification as an AOD Counselor within five (5) years from the date of registration with 5 years’ experience OR Possession of a valid California license as a Physician, Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or registration as an intern with the California Board of Psychology or the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- Must be able to provide written verification of education and experience upon hire.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position may work within ALL other agency programs, consistent with their scope of practice, on a as needed basis. In addition, may require occasional flexible work schedule to meet the individualized needs of each client.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CA Driver's License, Current Auto Insurance, Clean DMV Printout (no more than 3 points on driving record), clear background check w/ DOJ, CACI, FBI, CPR and First Aid Certified. TB Test and Physical at the time of employment.
