Job Location – Pecos, TX (Reeves County Recreation Center – “The Rec”)
Reports to – Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructor

Position Overview:
Seeking a dynamic individual for a Lifeguard role working with various populations and clientele at our state of the art and newly constructed Recreation Center. The Rec is pioneering and promoting the integrated health model in providing a seamless integration of performance training, fitness and wellness, nutrition, rehabilitation, recovery, child care, and recreational sport activities all under one roof.
The ideal candidate will have the professional opportunity to advance based on the performance, management, and success of the department and the Rec as a whole.
Responsibilities and job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Help ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all members and guests in the aquatics area.
- Help provide a safe, fun, happy, and educational experience for all members and guests utilizing the aquatics services.
- Help assist in all aspects of the various aquatic activities, aqua fit classes, and swim lesson programs for all members and guests.
- Instruct, motivate, and mentor clients 1-on-1, in small groups, and large groups in a safe, legal, moral, and ethical manner for all aquatic related programs and lessons. (If get certified as a Swim Instructor).
- Help assist in the daily cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of the aquatics area, including maintaining correct water balance, documentation, and preventative maintenance of all pools, sauna, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Rec's various integrated services, programs, and staff.
- Collaborate and work in a holistic team environment that includes Performance and Fitness, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Massage, Aquatics, Child Care, and Recreational Sports.
- Openly communicate with staff, members, and guests to ensure all goals are met.
- Participate in staff education covering all aspects of the Rec's methodology.
- Take on an added role as needed and determined by the Executive Director.
- Help conduct various client engagements, educational activities, and events.
- Act as a professional liaison of the Rec Center and provide a warm and welcoming environment for all members and guests.
- Follow established policies and procedures set forth by the Executive Director.
- Maintain professional credentials as required, including but not limited to, attending necessary continuing education courses.
- Cross train with other departments within the Rec’s purview.
- Some travel may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates applying for this position should be comfortable in various environmental conditions and be able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday. Swim at least 200 yards daily. The physical requirements of this job require frequent standing, walking, demonstrating, swimming, and assisting as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified First Aid & CPR w/ AED by ARC (will certify in-house).
- Certified Lifeguard (LG) by ARC or ALC (will certify in-house).
- Certified Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) by ARC (will certify in-house).
- Strong customer service skills where servicing the “client” is top priority.
- Excellent presentation skills in both small and large group settings.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office or related products.
Preferred:
- Pursuing an Associates or Bachelors in Sports Management, Recreation, or related degree from an accredited university.
- Relevant experience in a Recreation Center or similar setting.
Classification:
- This is a full-time non-exempt (FTNE) position.
Pay:
- Starting pay at $15 per hour.
