What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant at Northampton Private Practice position at Refresh Valley Dental?
Refresh Valley Dental Group is a private dental practice in Northampton, MA. We are adding another dentist this summer, and will need to hire two additional dental assistants shortly!
Are you tired of working in an office where your coworkers never take responsibility for their job? Do you feel like your practice is just going through the motions with no attempt at self-improvement? Are you rushed through your work to the point where you can't do your job to your own standards? Are you considering trying something new?
Our practice aims to help both our team members and our community to thrive. We’re focused on compassion, communication, teamwork, and competency. We want to grow this place as a team, working hard together to create a home away from home. While we are excited to serve the whole community, we also have a special interest in making our queer and dentally anxious patients feel comfortable and respected. Finally, we care deeply about food security, and are proud to be partnering with the Northampton Survival Center to donate a month’s worth of free groceries for every new patient who comes in for a comprehensive exam. While we understand this might not be the ideal environment for everyone, we’re hoping that the right dental assistant will feel right at home here.
We do not work on weekends, and have one late day per week (the rest are early). Our dental assistants assist the doctors, explain treatment plans and basic financing options to patients, schedule the doctor's patients, coordinate with labs, do basic maintenance on the equipment, assure their rooms are disinfected, and sterilize instruments. They also help out the hygiene department with perio charting, photos, and suctioning for scaling and root planing patients when time allows.
The best assistant for the position will be a kind, detail focused individual, who is ready to grow. While on the job training may be considered, a current Massachusetts dental assisting license, and CPR certification at the time of hire are preferred. We require timeliness, flexibility, teamwork, cleanliness, organization, and a service-oriented attitude. Everyone here is expected to help each other if they have the time.
Our mission is to help our community be healthy, eat good food, and smile with confidence, and we hope you feel the same way!
