Tissue Processing Technician II
Summary
Under the direction of Lab management, the Processing Technician shall conduct the processing of donated human tissue, tissue suitability, and maintain efficient production operations that will enhance and improve the lives of others. This person supports the activities of the processing department and supervisors.
This position interacts with employees in the Processing Department and may interact with other department supervisors, team leads, and personnel as necessary.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for processing donated human tissue intended for transplantation.
- Cleans and sanitizes work area, all equipment, and all supplies.
- Perform in-process quality control functions and enter tracking information into appropriate reports.
- Complete all documentation associated with tissue processing in accordance with GDP, GMP, GTP, and AATB Standards.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Aseptically process HCT/Ps according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide assistance to support departments, when necessary.
- Uphold a standard of maintaining the cleanliness of the Controlled Environment Areas.
- Accurately measure, label, and package HCT/Ps.
- Document all processing activities performed accurately to maintain integrity and traceability of donor.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate processing inventory levels, rotate supplies, check-in supplies, and restock supplies.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned in laboratory maintenance, quality control, training, and research development.
This position will require contact with human tissue, blood, and fluids.
Protective equipment is provided.
Knowledge/Skills required
- Demonstrated a history of working cooperatively in a team environment with multiple processors.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in life science is preferred or equivalent education/experience in an allied health care field.
- Must be able to reason independently and work with minimal guidance.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple activities.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of human anatomy is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge and experience in biologics, medical device manufacturing, or cleanroom/aseptic environments a plus.
- Must be able to adapt to quickly changing priorities and schedules.
- Basic computer skills are required, such as knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software as necessary.
- Must be willing to acquire knowledge of FDA, ISO, AATB, and other regulations, as applicable.
- Good mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity and good hand /eye coordination.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs, perform repetitive movements, and stand for long periods of time.
- Available to work a 7-day schedule or schedule rotation, including nights and weekends, as needed.
The company provides the necessary training for this role.
Pay Starts from $15 to $20 /hr. for the first 90 days then increases upon satisfactory completion of training.
