What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Haul Truck Driver (Owner/Operator Option) position at Regency Enterprises Servi?

 

Purpose:  The primary responsibility of the Driver is to help meet our client’s needs by delivering and picking up equipment/material in a timely and safe manner. Candidate must have excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations. Candidate must possess time management and organization skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule. The duties include loading equipment/material into the vehicle; physical stamina and good upper body strength is required to drive and operate equipment. Will consider an Owner or Operator for this role; pay will be discussed once employment status is determined.

Positions Reporting to this Function: None    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Keep Manager apprised of actions related to delays, equipment failure or changes to requested deliveries or pick-ups.
  2. Participate in annual DOT recertification to ensure safe operation of vehicle.
  3. Conducts routine vehicle inspection daily and reports any damage or vandalism and keeps mileage records, trip sheets and repair records up to date.
  4. Maintains vehicle at optimum operating level at all times and notifies supervisor of any problems or need for repairs; arranges for repairs as needed.
  5. Arrive at destinations on schedule and utilizes navigation applications to determine the best routes, research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays.
  6. Always interact with clients professionally
  7. Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use

Education:

  1. High School diploma required.

Experience & Qualifications:  

  1. A valid “Class A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), issued by your state of residence.
  2. At least 21 years old (DOT Requirement)
  3. 3-5 years of driving/operator experience in construction or heavy haul driving required.
  4. Must successfully pass a 10-Panel Drug Test, as well as an MVR check for the past 5 years without any suspensions or major traffic violations
  5. Regular attendance and punctuality
  6. Must adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) safety requirements

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  1. Must be able to operate a 10-speed manual transmission/Rear Axles: Tandem Conventional Day Cab Truck
  2. Must possess a strong knowledge of heavy haul/dump truck operational procedures
  3. Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills, including a professional demeanor when dealing with clients and DOT officials
  4. Must be able to maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections 
  5. Must be able to collaborate effectively with clients, and management
  6. Must maintain the service and appearance of the truck
  7. Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment
  8. Must be able to manage confidential company and client information with discretion
  9. Must possess time management, organizational and planning skills, so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately
  10. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with, communicate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with the public

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 40-hour work week
  2. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. intermittently
  3. Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including rain, sleet, hail, snow, dust, and hot temperatures
  4. Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

Work Requirements:

  • COVID vaccinated or documented exemption for religious or medical reasons (will be verified).
  • Background check and drug test.
