  • This position is located in Cleveland/Independence, OH. Based on experience, skill and knowledge this position can be remote.


Purpose of Position:

The (O&P Auditor) will be responsible for conducting audits on registered entities (such as utilities or generators) to assess their compliance with reliability-based NERC standards and regulations. You will provide guidance and assistance to registered entities on how to improve their compliance performance and culture.

You will participate in Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Activities (Taskforces, workshops, etc.). You will also possess the ability to perform the function of the Team Lead when assigned by utilizing ReliabilityFirst Compliance Monitoring Processes, and perform risk analyses of entities or groups of entities to identify potential risks to help ensure the reliability and resiliency of the Bulk Electrical System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing audit plans, schedules, scopes, or procedures to prepare for upcoming audits.
  • Conducting interviews, observations, document reviews, or tests to collect evidence or verify compliance practices.
  • Documenting audit findings, observations, recommendations, or corrective actions using various tools or systems.
  • Keeping knowledge and skills up to date on reliability standards, regulations, processes, or tools.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical field with at least 5 years of related experience or no degree with at least 8 years of related experience/education resulting in demonstrated ability to perform the major duties required.
  • Experience with Renewable Energy Resources.
  • Knowledge in the Transmission Operations, Generation Operations or Engineering/Planning of the Bulk Electric System (BES) and supporting technologies.
  • Knowledge of and experience with field construction and maintenance (operations, substations/transmission lines/ generator, etc.).
  • Ability to act as a Subject Matter Expert within ReliabilityFirst and the industry on Operations/Planning Reliability Standards and related matters.
  • Ability to participate as a team lead or team member on registered entity Investigations, Complaint reviews, and Event Analysis as assigned.
  • Collaborative team player with strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Willingness to travel about 30% of the time.


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Internal Controls and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
  • Understanding and familiarity of NERC Standards.
  • Familiarity with NERC Task Forces.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, regulatory experience, and/or auditor certification.
  • Certifications/Licensures pertinent to Transmission/Operations (e.g., Reliability Coordinator or Transmission Operator’s license).
  • Previous managerial/supervisory experience.
