Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Addiction Supervisor to lead and oversee our Substance Abuse Program. In this vital role, you will coordinate clinical services, supervise staff, and ensure the delivery of comprehensive addiction treatment that aligns with best practices and regulatory standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to certified addiction counselors and trainees.
  • Oversee daily operations of SUD programs, including OP, IOP, and Early Intervention services.
  • Train, supervise, evaluate, and support clinical and support staff; assign and manage caseloads.
  • Manage intake, assessments, pre-admission screenings, and ensure medical necessity and level-of-care appropriateness.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, COMAR regulations, and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain treatment plans; complete quarterly reviews and chart audits.
  • Facilitate SUD team meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, and performance improvement activities.
  • Provide direct clinical services as needed, including counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Monitor client progress, toxicology results, documentation accuracy, billing, and authorizations.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with outreach, recruitment, and program development to address substance use and social determinants of health.
  • Assume Clinical Director duties when needed to ensure uninterrupted quality care.
  • Manage a small caseload of dually diagnosed patients including treatment planning, individual and group counseling, and case management services.

What We Need From You

  • Maryland-licensed LCADC, LGADC, LCPC, LCSW-C, LGPC, LMFT, or CAC-AD (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Approved Board-Certified Supervisor status in Maryland.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience as a Board-Approved Addictions Supervisor.
  • Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, withdrawal management, and crisis intervention.
  • Working knowledge of COMAR, DEA regulations, CARF standards, and EHR systems.
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and computer skills.

Experience

  • Proven experience in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment settings with a focus on addiction counseling or clinical counseling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong background in home & community care environments, hospital settings, or outpatient clinics involving patient assessment and case management.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), medical records management, and electronic health record systems.
  • Knowledge of addiction medicine principles, mental health counseling techniques, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children & families, individuals with PTSD or trauma histories is preferred.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care.
