Job Summary
The Division of Enrollment Management seeks applicants for Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions. The Assistant Director is responsible for the identification, invitation and enrollment of students into Rensselaer's educational community. The Assistant Director may be assigned a geographical region, a school, a program or an area to develop and implement. The Assistant Director will conduct in-person and virtual information sessions, travel to college fairs or college-based information sessions; and participate in the planning and execution of on-campus events.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates will have, at least a Bachelor's Degree, along with two (2) or more years of professional work experience. A valid US driver's license is required.

A relevant combination of education, experience and training may be substituted for a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Though not required, candidates with experience in higher education, especially graduate or undergraduate admissions are especially desired.

Job Duties
- Implements recruitment strategies in assigned geographic territory to include high school and/or community college visits and if appropriate, host regional yield events. Develop and build relationships with faculty, administration, and other stakeholders in assigned regions; independently schedule visits, coordinating and making arrangements directly with schools and students.
- Develops and maintains thorough understanding of Rensselaer’s curricular offerings to advise students and families of admission requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid and scholarship information. Provide advice and counsel regarding the admissibility of candidates and offer alternative suggestions for college-bound students.
- Reviews admission applications, including evaluation of credentials, to grant or deny admission to Rensselaer. Identify applicants who fall somewhere in the middle vis-à-vis the threshold criteria for further review and discussion with secondary reviewers. Provide recommendations and input based on their knowledge or experience gained in the field to influence the ultimate admission decision. As required, serve as a member of an application review committee and serve as a reading mentor to new staff.
- Makes recommendations that shape recruitment initiatives or admission policies based on information and observations gathered in the field. (i.e. recommend changing coverage within his or her territory to reach more or fewer or different schools within the territory).
- Serve as an enrollment liaison to an academic school or as the ‘in-office’ expert’ for one of the major recruiting initiatives aimed at meeting the Institute’s diversity goals. Participate in the development of recruitment initiatives for assigned area of responsibility.
- Supervise, educate, and work with student ambassadors (tour guides) as needed, supervise, moderate and and/or participate in on-line webinars as assigned.
Shift
Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required. Works in normal office environments and public forums. Travel on and off campus required and must be geographical territory flexible. Work is fast paced and stressful. May require long and irregular hours including evenings, nights and weekends.
