Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our Industrial Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment, both on-site and in the field. Your work will be essential in ensuring all machinery is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Schedule & Hours:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (with occasional Saturday work, if needed)
- Hours: 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed
Primary Duties:
- Perform preventative maintenance and light-to-moderate mechanical repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) systems, vacuum systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct brake repairs and replacements, ensuring all work meets DOT and company standards.
- Complete safety inspections, including checking protective guards, bolts, and safety devices, making adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Operate a variety of shop tools and equipment such as grinders, compressors, jacks, diagnostic tools, and various hand tools.
- Change and rotate tires and perform wheel alignments.
- Address issues reported in Driver Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspection Reports (DVIRs), and sign off on completed repairs.
- Respond to and complete on-road service calls for emergency repairs as required.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for compliance and tracking purposes.
- Follow all USE Management System policies and procedures and uphold safety standards at all times, including the use of PPE.
- Be available for on-call assignments during evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
- CDL Class A or B with tanker endorsement (preferred, not required).
- ASE Certification in Medium/Heavy Brakes (preferred, not required).
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds repeatedly (e.g., vehicle parts, drums, equipment).
- Proven ability to work independently and make decisions without constant supervision.
- Working knowledge of shop equipment such as tire changers, alignment systems, and diagnostic software.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be available for emergency calls.
- Must pass pre-employment background screening.
- Must meet company qualifications for driving and auto insurance.
- Must pass or be willing to complete OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within 45 days of employment (if applicable by division).
Minimum Requirements:
