What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Residential Opportunities?
Supervisor: Senior Accounting Manager
Status: Non-exempt, full-time.
Wage: Salary begins at $58,000 annually, adjusted for experience.
Number of Openings: One.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hybrid office setting.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Create and enter journal entries related to monthly business activities with appropriate documentation for backup.
- Process incoming payments by check, credit card and EFT.
- Assist with cash forecasting and daily cash management.
- Oversee the commercial card program including issuances of credit cards, limit assignment, and termination of cards.
- Record and reconcile all ledger transaction in Representative Payee Manager and other software.
- Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Perform internal audit of processes, procedures, and practices of the Finance Department.

- Maintain the confidentiality of all restricted information, data and reports.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by the CFO or the CEO.
Paid training is provided to all new hires. During your first few weeks of employment, you will take a number of in-person classes, virtual classes over Zoom, and self-paced online courses. Your supervisor will also schedule you for on-site orientations. Trainings include (but are not limited to): CPR/First Aid, nutrition, medication administration, crisis intervention, driving safety, and the legal rights and protections of Individuals Served. Trainings vary by position.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 2-3 years experience working in financial software.
- U.S. Work Authorization

- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply federal, state and local grant requirements and regulations as well as other contractual financial regulations and procedures.
- Ability to communicate with the public at all levels to effectively respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Work independently as well as part of a team.
- Utilize modern office practices and procedures related to accounting, including: spreadsheet programs, accounting software programs and external platforms.
