Camp Counselor (Spring & Summer 2025)

RAFT is seeking Camp Counselors who enjoy working with kids. We will look to you to help campers feel safe and inspired to make the most of their camp experience. You will work under the facilitators’ supervision and support campers’ learning activities.

This role is perfect for those interested in pursuing a teaching career and eager to gain hands-on experience.

This is a temporary position with the opportunity to work 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on the camp site. This role pays $20 per hour, plus a $200 stipend for completing training and the hiring process on time.

Sample of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Activity Support:

• Assist with the setup and cleanup of daily hands-on activities.
• Support teachers in guiding campers’ focus during learning activities and facilitating smooth transitions between tasks.

Team Collaboration:

• Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among campers.

Supply Management:

• Ensure an organized learning environment by replenishing consumable supplies and help the lead staff transport materials to and from a central storage area

Training & Debrief:

• Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding training, professional development, and staff meetings before camp starts.
• Engage in after-camp debrief sessions.

Camper & Staff Assistance:

• Be attentive to the needs of campers and staff, assisting as issues arise.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.

Supervision:

• Supervise outdoor activities, ensuring the safety of campers.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor, inspiring campers toward STEM career pathways.
• Monitor campers during transitions and breaks to maintain a secure environment.
  

Requirements:

• Upper high school or college student.
• Previous experience as a camp counselor.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
  
• TB Risk Assessment & Fingerprint clearance. 

Qualifications & Skills:

• Genuine interest and experience in working with young children in a childcare/education environment.
• Commitment to 1 full week, Monday through Friday, for 8 hours between 8 AM - 5 PM.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic learning environment.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• Enthusiastic and reliable team player.
• Strong professional skills to fulfill required training and assigned tasks with excellence.
