What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Specialist / Job Skills Trainer (Entry Level) position at Resources for Independent Living, Inc.?
What You’ll Do
- Work one-on-one with people with disabilities to build independent living and job-readiness skills
- Help individuals set goals and create simple Independent Living Plans (ILPs)
- Teach practical skills such as budgeting, daily routines, transportation use, and workplace behaviors
- Provide job skills training and community-based instruction, including coordination with DVRS when appropriate
- Answer incoming phone calls, make outbound calls, and provide general information and referrals
- Assist individuals with completing applications and accessing community resources (e.g., benefits, housing, transportation, employment supports), under supervision
- Support self-advocacy, informed choice, and independence in everyday decision-making
- Maintain clear, timely documentation of services provided
- Travel locally to meet with individuals in homes, workplaces, community locations, and CIL offices

Work Conditions

What We’re Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Interest in disability services, vocational support, or community-based work
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Preferred (but not required)
- Bilingual-English/Spanish
- Experience in human services, education, retail, job coaching, or customer service
- Familiarity with DVRS or employment support programs
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Transportation
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
