JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for fielding phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, as well as other non-clinical duties as instructed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; scheduling appointments.
- Input new patient demographics/insurance, and update insurance on each patient before every visit.
- Completes check-in and/or check-out functions according to established protocols.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains office supplies inventory by checking stock & anticipating needs; communicating with the office manager/team lead.
- Keeps office equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies, etc.
- Serves and protects the health care community by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
- Enhances physician office reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or provider.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Office Experience preferred - General, Scheduling, Telephone Skills, Typing, Business Knowledge, Organization, Time Management, Customer Service, Verbal Communication, PC Proficiency.
- Athena experience preferred, but not required
SKILLS:
1. Ability to quickly operate the EMR (Athena) for various job functions.
2. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to easily communicate with patients; recording accurate messages and relaying orders clearly to patients.
4. Ability to effectively manage multiple phone lines, and triage emergent phone conversations.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
6. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
7. Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, and peers.
Physical Requirements:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, specifically reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires infrequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted.
Requires assisting patients in to their vehicle following their procedures that are performed with anesthesia . Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
