Job Location Information: Resurrection College Prep H igh School is a private, catholic, all-girls
high school located in Chicago, Illinois.
Job Summary: Our athletics program offers multiple sports opportunities for our students to
participate in. We offer twelve (12) competitive sports with a wide range of team opportunities.
T he athletic trainer is responsible for all sports teams during their prospective seasons.
F all sports: volleyball, tennis, flag football, cross country, golf, and swimming.
Winter sports: basketball and bowling.
Spring sports: softball, soccer, lacrosse, and track & field.
The athletic trainer is responsible for covering all home practices and competitions - providing

J ob type: 10-months (August - May) at 30-hours a week, weekends as needed. Summer coverage
for athletic camps (June - July) at 20-hours a week, no weekends in the summer. Pay and benefits

JOB DESCRIPTION OF THE ATHLETIC TRAINER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The athletic trainer serves as a healthcare provider to athletes as well as the healthcare liaison to
physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents/guardians. The athletic trainer ensures that players participate
o nly when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed. As defined in
the educational competencies of the BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, the duties of the athletic trainer
include, but are not limited to:
1. R isk reduction, wellness and health literacy
2 . Assessment, evaluation and diagnosis
3. C ritical incident management
4 . Therapeutic intervention
5 . Healthcare administration and professional responsibility
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National
- Maintain current Illinois state licensure to practice as an athletic trainer.
- M aintain current Emergency Cardiac Care certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. P rovide medical care of home interscholastic practices and competitions.
2. Assist coaches with the development of conditioning and injury prevention programs.
3. Provide initial evaluation of injuries to interscholastic athletes.
4 . Initiate proper medical follow-up for athletic injuries.
5. Design and implement rehabilitation programs for injured interscholastic athletes.
6. Make decisions concerning the return of athletes to practice and competition after injuries.
7. Communicate with parent(s)/guardian(s), athlete, coach, and physician regarding progress of the
injured interscholastic athlete.
8. Coordinate concussion Return-to-Learn and Return-to-Play protocols as defined by treating
approved health care provider.
9. Apply protective bracing, taping, and/or padding when appropriate.
10. Assist with the collection of physicals and emergency information for all in-season athletes.

DEPARTMENT/ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation for interscholastic athletes.
2 . Supervise interscholastic athletes in the athletic training room at all times.
3. Maintain cleanliness of the athletic training room.
4 . Provide and maintain medical kits for all sports.
5 . Maintain therapeutic and rehabilitative equipment of the athletic training room.
6 . Assist in the development of comprehensive emergency action plans for athletic facilities.
7. C reate a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
8. Implement concussion management program/protocol in alignment with state law.
9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
1 0. Assist the athletic director as requested.
1 1. Maintain inventory of athletic training room supplies and equipment.
12. C oordinate purchasing, placement, maintenance, and protocols of AEDs.
