What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Ophthalmic Technician position at Retina Consultants of Michigan?

Description

As an Ophthalmic Technician you will greet patients and explain what they should expect during their examination. An Ophthalmic Technician escorts the patient to an exam room and performs diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures prior to physician seeing them.

Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • No weekends
  • Must be available to work an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7:15AM and 5:30PM

What you will be doing

  • Bring patient from waiting area into exam room
  • Verify patient health information and chief complaint
  • Patient work-up
  • Ocular testing as required/ordered by the doctor (see Required Skills)
  • Clerical work as required (returning patient calls, following up with patients regarding test results, triaging eye problem questions, and assisting in the office as needed)
  • E-Prescribing or calling in prescriptions for doctors
  • Opening and closing exam rooms before/after daily clinic and re-stocking the exam rooms when necessary

What you know

Required

  • Able to work in dim lighting
  • High-level computer skills
  • Medical terminology
  • Capable of standing a majority of the day
  • A calm and polite demeanor that is patient when working with primarily elderly patients
  • Experience as a technician/assistant in an ophthalmology office
  • Experience with Humphrey Visual Fields, Refracting, OCT, testing pressure
  • Experience working in customer service with a history of delivering exceptional customer service
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
