Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Forklift Lead to oversee daily forklift operations and assist in coordinating warehouse logistics. The ideal candidate will be a skilled forklift operator with leadership experience, a strong understanding of warehouse safety standards, and the ability to mentor and guide a team. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, accurate, and safe movement of materials within the warehouse.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the forklift team.
- Ensure warehouse staff are always working – loading/unloading freight, cleaning warehouse, performing approved tasks, etc.
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, etc.) to load, unload, move, and stack products.
- Train new and existing forklift operators on proper procedures and safety protocols.
- Cross-Train warehouse staff to develop employee skills and ensure sufficient availability of trained staff.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct ongoing refresher training.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Inspect forklifts before each shift to ensure operational safety and report maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with warehouse management to prioritize tasks and meet shipping/receiving deadlines.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Identify and resolve operational issues or escalate them to management.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- 3 years of leadership or team lead experience. Ideally in a warehouse environment.
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Familiarity with warehouse operations, logistics, and inventory systems.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and warehouse safety standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency: experience with RF WMS is a plus.
- Prior experience with specialized freight such as containers, Flatbed loads, oversized loads and able to do hand unloads as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and operation of equipment.
- Comfortable working in varying warehouse conditions (temperature, noise, etc.).
Schedule & Compensation:
- Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- Pay range from $25-$28/hr. Compensation based on experience.
- Opportunities for overtime and advancement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
