The Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Director of Student Health and Wellness. The nurse practitioner provides clinical care and health services, including nursing assessments, examinations, and treatment. This is a part-time PRN/COVERAGE opportunity with no guaranteed hours. Job Requirements: A master’s degree or doctorate in nursing is required with a current Tennessee license and certification. Nurse Practitioner certification required with a current Tennessee license Current DEA certification, NPI number, and CPR/First Aid certification required Required licenses and certifications must be in good standing Current immunizations (Tdap, M.M.R, Meningococcal, Varicella, TBST (TB Skin Test), and Flu Shot) Proof of professional liability insurance required before start date Five years of administrative experience and clinical experience in college health, primary care, urgent care, or related field with a preference for health education and supervisory experience in a clinical setting. Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, insurance, computer, health assessment, laboratory, and verbal and written communication skills. Familiar with the American Association of College Health. Demonstrated use of diversity, equity, and inclusion approaches to clinical care. Job Responsibilities: Assessment and management of students’ acute, chronic, and preventive health issues, consistent with defined practice guidelines and American College Health Association (ACHA) and CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education – Clinical Health Services. Provides appropriate medical treatment to students within the accepted professional standards and scope of practice. Collaborates with the registered nurse to formulate an individualized plan(s) of care for student patients. Performs laboratory duties, including waste management and written forms according to the protocol, and exhibits knowledge of OSHA, TOSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory agency regulations as needed. Refers to patients for specialized medical care beyond the scope of the Student Health Center, including coordination of medical transport as needed. Communicate effectively with staff, parents, students, physicians, and off-campus medical personnel to provide follow-up care and support to students. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently in a highly productive and fast-paced environment. Extensive knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies; Proven leadership in risk management. Knowledge and experience with College policies and legal issues in higher education. Ability and experience investigating and responding to risk management and wellness concerns. Ability to provide perspective and utilize a proactive style of leadership that encourages teamwork and interaction. Excellent written and communication skills; Full competence in computer software packages for the office environment. A thorough understanding of the organizational management of student affairs/health services, including partnership building with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and promote a campus climate of inclusion and participation by all students. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with complex and sometimes sensitive issues. Commitment to the vision and values of the College. Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships across campus; interact effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and families to establish and maintain good working relationships. Evening and weekend hours may be required periodically. Physical Demands: Light work: General office environment that requires sitting constantly. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications frequently. Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities often. Visual acuity is commonly needed to read and review print and electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 10 lbs. will be performed rarely. The mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building occasionally. A complete application includes a cover letter and a resume.
