Opportunity Overview
Rhythm Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Global Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance & Accounting Team. This position is responsible for working collaboratively with the Finance team and the business owners on performing the daily accounts payable activities in a SOX compliant environment. This position requires the ability to multitask in a professional environment while working with people at all levels across the entire organization. A successful candidate will be the point of contact person for accounts payable, ensuring purchase order and invoice issues are resolved efficiently. They will provide these services in an effective and efficient manner, ensure that the company’s finances are accurate, and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with daily invoice processing of US and foreign entities through the accounting system, ensuring invoice entry and business manager invoice approvals are completed in a timely manner.
- Proper recording of value added tax (VAT) and sales tax within ERP.
- Assist with weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, & wires).
- Create, update, and manage the vendor master record in accordance with SOX.
- Assist in completing monthly and quarter-end close tasks as well as audit requests.
- Provide excellent service to our internal and external vendors by ensuring that research and resolution of AP inquiries are responded to timely.
- Provide guidance to the business owners in efforts around purchase order problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Assist in quarterly training of Rhythm business owners on the procure to pay (PTP) policies and procedures including proper use of ERP.
- Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associates degree and/or combined education and experience
- Minimum of two years prior experience in an Accounts Payable position, preferably in pharmaceuticals
- Experience with global payables desired
- Understanding of GAAP principals and how to apply them in accounts payable accordingly
- Understanding of VAT, sales tax, and 1099 reporting. Experience using an accounting ERP/OCR system
- Microsoft Dynamics preferred but will train
- Prior experience in a SOX compliant environment preferred
- Prioritization and organizational skills demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines and a strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Training for this role will be done in a face to face capacity. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel.
