Deputy Clerk

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision, applies professional judgment to perform general clerking duties for the Juvenile Court according to the standards of state law and model court practice, as defined by court policy and procedure. These duties may include, but are not limited to: accurately entering, updating and maintaining confidential data; processing documentation, and other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates degree/paralegal preferred; or any combination of education and experience indicating the necessary ability, skills and/or knowledge to effectively perform the aforementioned duties.
• Experience with and understanding of judicial and court procedures, and case processing preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in the exercise of sound judgment, working in a team environment; administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.
• Must hold a Commission Certificate as an Ohio Notary Public (may be acquired post-hire).
• History of satisfactory or above standard job performance; and a history of effective, cooperative, and positive working relationships with administration, management, supervisors, co-workers and the public.

Knowledge of:

• Computer software programs (Microsoft Office resident applications and other relational databases)
• Court and departmental policies, procedures and processes (may acquire during initial employment period)

Ability to:

• Pass a background check including criminal records and drug testing.
• Maintain confidentiality, professional working relationships with clients, families, Court staff, attorneys, counselors, etc.
• Manage multiple priorities, assignments, and time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Communicate honestly, respectfully, and effectively in written and oral formats.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
