Riddle Village, a lifecare retirement community, is seeking a Full-time Activities Aide to join our wellness team!

About The Activities Aide Position

The primary purpose of the Activities Aide position is to assist the Activities Supervisor and Personal Care Administrator with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the department. This will be accomplished in accordance with all applicable and current guidelines and regulations and as may be directed by management in order to assure that an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident.

The responsibilities of the Activities Aide also include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of Riddle Village. Coordinate with other departments as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Director of Wellness Services and /or Administrator.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for the identification of medically related activity needs of the resident (i.e., Use of adaptive devices)
  • Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and families.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development, and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Interview residents/families as necessary and in a private setting as necessary and involve the residents/family in planning the activity program.
  • Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms and reports and submitting them to the Director of Wellness Services as required.
  • Refer family/resident to appropriate social service personnel.
  • Provide consultation to members of the staff to enhance the activity experience for the resident through problem-solving and developing a program specific to that resident.
  • Maintain a productive working relationship with the medical profession and other health-related facilities and organizations.
  • Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related activity functions to ensure that tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department.
  • Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies.
  • Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and the resident's response to the service.
  • Assist in maintaining a reference library of written material, laws, etc., necessary for complying with current standards and regulations, and that will provide assistance in maintaining a quality activity program.
  • Meet with activity personnel on a regularly scheduled basis concerning the operation of the department, assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and /or improvement of services.
  • Develop a comprehensive assessment of the activity needs of each resident and develop a written plan of care. Encourage the resident and family to participate in the development and review of the care plan. Ensure that all activity personnel is aware of the care plan and that care plans are used in identifying activities for residents. Review and revise care plans as necessary.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the activity department's budget for food, equipment, supplies, and labor and submit to the Activities Coordinator for review, recommendations, and approval.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for the residents.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities, and provide materials as necessary.
  • Assist in standardizing the method in which activities will be performed and /or administered.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departments.
  • Assure those department work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary, and safe manner. Ensure that activity personnel follows established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.
  • Make necessary rounds to check equipment and to ensure that needed activities supplies are available and in good working order.
  • Ensure that all personnel operates activities equipment in a safe manner and that activity supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste.
  • Check the supply room to ensure that needed activity supplies are on hand to conduct scheduled activities.
