We’re growing and looking for a detail-oriented, financially savvy Billing Specialist to join our office team and help us continue delivering care that makes a difference across rural Nebraska.
About the Role:
As our Billing Specialist, (THIS POSITION IS IN OFFICE, NOT A REMOTE POSITION) you’ll be responsible for managing the billing, payroll, and financial operations that keep our agency running smoothly and efficiently. This includes working with multiple payer types (VA, DHHS, long-term care insurance, private pay, and facilities), and ensuring accurate, timely documentation through Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for Nebraska Medicaid. You’ll also complete payroll processing, take client calls about billing, handle employee questions about pay and PTO, manage collections, enter Medicaid/VA authorizations, process wage garnishments, and enter client payments into WellSky. Plus, you’ll play a key role in bookkeeping using QuickBooks.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage weekly billing for private pay, VA, DHHS Medicaid, LTC insurance, and facilities
- Submit and reconcile EVV documentation for Medicaid billing compliance
- Handle collections and follow up on outstanding balances
- Complete payroll processing and reporting
- Respond to employee calls regarding pay and PTO
- Take client calls regarding billing questions or concerns
- Monitor, enter, and maintain Medicaid and VA authorizations
- Enter and track wage garnishments
- Communicate, track, and collect share of cost (SOC)
- Enter client payments into WellSky
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
- Prepare adjusting, closing, and reversing journal entries
- Track and maintain accounts receivable and payable
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Utilize QuickBooks for daily bookkeeping functions
- Support various financial projects and audits as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Associate degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred (not required)
- 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or payroll
- Strong experience in QuickBooks
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Previous experience with healthcare billing or EVV systems is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
