What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Operator position at Riken Elastomers?

 
 

Summary:

Follow specifications to perform all tasks involved in the production of thermoplastic compounds and polyvinyl chloride compounds in accordance with environmental, health and safety, and quality standards to meet customer requirements. 

Essential Functions

  • Comply with all environmental, health, safety and quality standards.
  • Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and products to ensure conformance to requirements. 
  • Load blender with raw materials according to specifications.
  • Operate or tend machines to mix or blend.
  • Monitor raw materials from main material supply.
  • Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Handle and package product.
  • Routinely clean blending, mixing, and packaging equipment.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S).

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Initiate or suggest ideas and support continuous improvement efforts in all areas of organization including quality and environmental, health and safety.
  • Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment. 
  • Load and unload trucks as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance related activities.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Complete all paperwork as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:

(a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes;

(b) respond appropriately to instructions from Process Leader

  • Employee has the authority to stop the process to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years related work experience preferred.

      Compounding experience a plus.

  • Team oriented with ability to function on own.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Good math skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Strong focus on follow-up and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work any schedule.

Physical demands: 

  • Constantly required to sit/stand, walk, talk and hear. 
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move approximately 55 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment: Plant and Office

  • Exposure to changes in temperature, dust, fumes and chemicals.
  • Exposure to moderately loud noise while in the plant.
  • Exposure to low noise levels while in the office.
  • Personal protective equipment required.
