Ringgold County Hospital is seeking a dedicated and versatile healthcare professional licensed as both a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and an Athletic Trainer (AT) to join our team. This unique role will allow the individual to leverage their skills across physical therapy and athletic training to provide comprehensive care in a rural critical access hospital setting. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with our medical staff to offer rehabilitative and preventive care to a diverse patient population, including athletes, orthopedic patients, and general rehabilitation clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation and Treatment: Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with varying needs, including musculoskeletal injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and chronic conditions.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide physical therapy treatments and techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and patient education, to support recovery, mobility, and overall functional improvement.
  • Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention: Serve as an Athletic Trainer for athletic and community events, providing injury prevention, acute care, and rehabilitation for athletes and physically active patients.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
  • Patient Education and Outreach: Educate patients, families, and the community on injury prevention, health maintenance, and safe exercise practices. Participate in community outreach and wellness programs.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in line with hospital policies and state/federal regulations. Ensure compliance with best practices, safety protocols, and ethical standards.
  • Multidisciplinary Care Team Participation: Actively engage in team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care and hospital services.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant program.
    • Degree in Athletic Training, or equivalent education and experience as per state regulations.
  • Licensure:
    • Current and unrestricted licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Iowa.
    • Current and unrestricted licensure as an Athletic Trainer (AT) in Iowa. (LAT, ATC)
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in a clinical setting; experience in a hospital or critical access environment is a plus.
    • Experience in both physical therapy and athletic training settings is highly preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and empower patients.
    • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including some weekends and on-call duties as needed for athletic events.
    • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and compliance with documentation standards.
