**Position Overview: Director of Finance - Foundation

**

The Director of Finance for the Foundation is tasked with steering operational functions, providing strategic oversight, and ensuring the financial integrity of the Health's Foundation. This role is pivotal in maintaining compliance with both state and federal regulations and acts as a vital liaison between the foundation and the hospital system. Although classified at the Director level, the position necessitates a hands-on managerial approach, requiring the individual to engage directly with financial data and demonstrate flexibility in meeting operational needs.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Process Improvement:** Analyze and refine job designs, workflows, and operational processes to enhance effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency, aligning them with departmental objectives.

2. **Professional Development:** Remain informed of industry advancements and trends through seminars, workshops, and professional literature. Actively participate in professional organizations and maintain relevant certifications to incorporate new knowledge into current practices.

3. **Compliance and Internal Controls:** Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulations, policies, and laws. Design and implement internal controls that ensure adherence to legal requirements and accreditation standards, seeking expert guidance as necessary.

4. **Budget Management:** Develop and oversee the annual budget to ensure the department is appropriately funded to achieve its established goals and objectives.

5. **Goals and Objectives:** Formulate, implement, and regularly assess annual departmental goals that align with the foundation's mission.

6. **Team Leadership:** Select, train, and supervise departmental staff, fostering their professional growth. Evaluate team performance and recommend disciplinary actions to maximize individual and group effectiveness.

**Communication Skills:** Exceptional verbal and written communication competencies, enabling the effective articulation of complex information across diverse disciplines and to various stakeholders.

**Leadership and Influence:** Proven ability to coach and drive results, complemented by strong leadership capabilities.

**Interpersonal Skills:** Excellent relationship-building skills, facilitating collaboration with diverse groups within and beyond the organization.

**Analytical Competence:** Strong analytical skills, enabling data-driven decision-making and strategic initiative leadership.

**Attention to Detail:** Meticulous focus on detail coupled with the capacity for independent thought.

  • **Accounting Acumen:** In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory accounting practices, and robust internal controls.

**Technical Proficiency:** Advanced skills in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant technology.

**Qualifications:**

**Education:** Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration is highly preferred.

**Experience:** A minimum of seven years in a financial leadership role is required, alongside at least four years of experience in the non-profit sector. Experience within a foundation is highly preferred, especially within the healthcare sector of large hospitals, and familiarity with grants management is essential.
