Sterile Processing Technician
Founded in 1982, Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH), an HCA-affiliated facility, is proud of maintaining its status as one of the leading healthcare providers in the Rio Grande Valley. For nearly 30 years, we have remained focused and committed to providing quality healthcare to all members of our community.With 320 beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing over 35 specialties, we offer a range of inpatient and outpatient services.
The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.
- The Instrument Technician has the duties of cleaning, wrapping, sterilization, and caring for surgical instruments and devices used in the operating room and patient care areas.
- Knowledge of instrumentation
- Knowledge of decontamination of blood born pathogens
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques
- Must be detail oriented and capable of consistent accuracy in cleaning, sorting
- Properly packaging instruments and materials for sterilization.
Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:
- Ability to work independently in the Sterile Processing Unit with prior experience in sterile processing and / or Schooling
- SPD training course or related experience preferred.
- Sterile Processing Certification preferred
