We are looking for an Advisor, Business Improvement to be responsible for supporting and leading productivity improvement projects to ensure sustainable value is created at the Kennecott Utah Copper. Working with key business stakeholders this position drives, coaches, and supports operational leaders in the implementation and embedding of business improvement initiatives to realize the value streams full potential.

Reporting to the Manager BI, you will be responsible for: 

  • Leading business improvement projects to deliver sustainable value;
  • Deploying the use of business improvement methods and tools, in line with the business improvement strategy/plan;
    • Supports compliance with standardized processes, systems, and tools.
    • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with leaders and employees;
    • Delivers training for business improvement tools and methodologies using training standards and material.
  • Providing informal guidance to less experienced staff.

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A strong safety mindset;
  • A demonstrated ability to lead a team through practical problem-solving exercises using Lean Six Sigma practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in a similar role for a mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial company;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, translating technical information for the target audience;
  • Proficiency with MS Office, skilled at developing & managing spreadsheets, graphing, and ability to learn new software; 

Preferred skills include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration
  • Experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other business improvement methodologies.

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
