About the role
The Inventory Manager will oversee the inventory and supply chain management of products and materials used in deployment of construction of fiber optic networks. This role involves strategic sourcing, inventory and warehouse management, and supply chain management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop inventory and warehouse management policy.
- Monitor Inventory Levels: Track stock levels using computerized inventory monitoring or supply chain software tools.
- Lead RFP for Warehouse Management Software (WMS) solution.
- Conduct Regular Counts: Perform cycle counts or stocktakes to determine available inventory. Compare and reconcile in ERP system.
- Order Inventory: Place orders to replenish stock, determine and manage safety stock levels for all materials, plan ahead for increases in demand.
- Supplier Management: Source suppliers and maintain relationships with them.
- Supplier Negotiations: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous deals.
- Manage excess and obsolete material, create a disposition plan to review with leadership.
- Problem Solving: Address issues in supply and delivery and find appropriate solutions.
- Prepare Inventory: Ready inventory for delivery or shipping to customers and contractors.
- Schedule logistics for material delivery to contractor locations.
- Forecasting: Study sales numbers and forecast future inventory needs for each business unit and market. Set regular meetings with stakeholders to review forecast information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in inventory control, supply chain management or distribution roles.
- Skills: Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods, working knowledge of inventory management software (e.g., ERP), strong organizational and planning skills, and outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
- Forecasting: Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in buyer-supplier power dynamics.
- Risk Management: Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
