What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at RISE Community Services?
Job Purpose
The purpose and responsibility of our transportation driver is to assist, support and encourage individuals with disabilities. We do this by providing a safe transportation experience and maintaining clean and safe vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Safely operates vehicle on assigned route, adhering to a set time schedule, adjusts schedule to changes as they occur, and notifies direct supervisor when changes are made.
- Provides transportation to and from activities; while keeping inside of vehicles clean and ensuring that pre-trip inspections are completed.
- Develop and foster a professional relationship with the individual based upon mutual respect and trust. Act as individuals advocate.
- Oversee the daily operation, safety, cleanliness, and care of their assigned vehicles.
- Performs minor vehicle maintenance such as cleaning interior and exterior, maintaining appropriate fuel and oil levels, appropriate level of water and radiator coolant, and maintaining appropriate air pressure in the tires.
- Any and all route concerns are to be brought to the direct supervisor immediately to be properly addressed.
- Vehicle condition reports are to be filled out when there is an issue with the vehicle
- Performs daily visual safety inspections of tires, lifts, seats and seatbelts, exhaust systems, engines, undercarriage, and exterior of all RISE passenger vehicles and reports any concerns to direct supervisor.
- Monitors bus entry of wheelchair bound passengers by observing approach to lift, operating of lift control, observing entrance onto bus, and securing wheelchair for passenger safety.
- Performs other such duties/assignments as directed.
Training
- Completes and maintains required mandated trainings such as Abuse and Neglect, CPR / First Aid, Behavioral Principles within 90 days of employment
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required by RISE as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have and maintain current driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire date.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and will be subject to random drug and alcohol checks thereafter.

Physical Requirements
