The Cybersecurity Specialist provides support to Cyber Operations and assists with vulnerability and compliance assessments, data analysis, system hardening, and reporting. Cybersecurity Specialist specializing in Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Windows Server, Network, and Systems Administration, you will be at the forefront of protecting the Department of Defense (DoD)’s operational technology (OT) environment and ensuring the integrity and availability of DoD OT and Information Technology (IT) systems. The position will be located at MCLB Albany, GA.
Essential Functions:
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security:
- Assess, design, and implement security solutions for ICS environments, including SCADA systems, PLCs, and related infrastructure.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing for ICS systems.
- Monitor ICS-specific security incidents and develop strategies for mitigation.
- Windows Server Administration:
- Administer and maintain Windows server infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
- Implement server hardening, patch management, and system optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues promptly.
- Network Security:
- Configure, manage, and maintain a secure network infrastructure.
- Implement firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other network security measures.
- Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies.
- Systems Administration:
- Manage and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT systems.
- Ensure timely patching, updates, and system configuration management for security and performance.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot system issues.
- Security Policy and Compliance:
- Develop, enforce, and update cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, CIS).
- Conduct cybersecurity training and awareness programs for staff.
- Risk Management Framework (RMF):
- Coordinate with customers and sub-contractors to ensure clear understanding of the RMF requirements and timelines.
- Assist clients to successfully navigate the RMF process and obtain an Authority-To-Operate (ATO).
Competencies:
- Extensive experience in ICS security, Windows server administration, network administration, and systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with ICS protocols and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in network security tools and technologies.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with DoD Cybersecurity policy, utility control systems, building control systems and industrial control systems.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 3 to 7 years experience (experience can be substituted for a degree)
- Experience within the Department of Defense (USMC or Navy preferred)
Required Certificates & Licenses (if any):
- CompTIA Security - Obtained within 6 to 9 months upon hire date.
Desired Certificates & Licenses (if any):
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, CASP).
- Current Operating System certification
Other Requirements:
- Security Clearance: Obtaining a DoD Secret Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for clearance level required for the job.
- Valid Passport: Possession of a current passport with a minimum of 8 months remaining until the expiration date.
- Hybrid Role: This hybrid role includes monthly travel to a local designated government site to work on secure networks and maintain access.
- Ability to maintain and access NIPR/SIPR accounts by monthly travel to employees designated regional site.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness and capability to travel, approximately 25% of the time.
