Rite-Solutions, Inc. is seeking skilled and motivated candidates for a Principal Technical Writer for on-site support in Middletown, RI. The Technical Writer works with technical and/or subject matter experts to develop documents/ media that fulfill program requirements, including operator procedures and manuals, maintenance procedures and manuals, software development documents, database design documents, white papers, feasibility studies, video training and system demonstrations and other presentations and briefs. Responsibilities include ensuring documents are prepared in accordance with military or other client-dictated specifications and standards when applicable; creating or identifying suitable graphics to complement text; editing documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, and spelling; and adhering to Quality Assurance standards.
Position Requirements:
- Must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills with proven capability in performance as a Technical Writer.
- Candidates must be able to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team and interface regularly with a wide range of client personnel including Technicians, Engineers, Management, and Customers.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio.
- Experience as a Technical Writer for Government military systems including requirements, specifications, Test Plans, Naval Instructions, Memorandums of Agreement (MOA), and engineering documentation as well as Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
- Ability to create deliverables to a level of detail and quality with minimal support
- Experience and ability performing system architecture, analysis, and test in addition to technical writing skills will distinguish a really strong candidate.
- Some Travel may be required.
Education/Skills:
- BA or BS in Business, English, Liberal Arts, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Technical Writer for DoD programs, Federal Government programs or Information Technology programs.
- Technical Writing skills are required as well as a strong proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance with the US Government.
