This position requires the ability to communicate well with patients practicing the appropriate level of confidence and empathy. It also requires considerable attention to detail, ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under stress. The ability to communicate well with patients, physicians, fellow staff members, and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer.
- Receives and processes multiple incoming calls for appointments.
- Schedules appointments in accordance with physician and/or department requirements.
- Coordinates with other departments as necessary.
- Verifies patient demographics and insurance information, and updates changes as needed.
- Confirms appointments according to site policy.
- Cancels/reschedules appointments according to provider schedule changes. Notifies appropriate clinic staff.
- Runs reports as required.
- Communicates appropriate information to providers or assistants in the office and to the Business/Eligibility department as needed.
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Includes special certification required for specific jobs.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: • Up to and including 1 year of experience.
Preferred: • Previous medical appointment scheduling experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Computer literate.
- Basic keyboard skills.
- Ability to type 25 wpm.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Customer service-oriented.
