JOB DESCRIPTION
Food Services Director
Duties:
A. Supervise the day-to-day operation of the Food Services Department. Supervise such to ensure that residents’ nutritional needs are met, that food is provided which is nutritious and appealing, and that the department functions within facility policies and regulatory requirements.
B. Train and supervise staff necessary for the operation of the Food Services Department. Participate with the Personnel Director in hiring department staff.
C. Implement departmental budget in all areas of responsibility. Schedule staff for the appropriate functioning of the department. Make recommendation to the Administrator regarding equipment needs.
D. Make recommendations regarding departmental policies.
E. Maintain appropriate departmental records including: resident diet orders, menus and menu substitutions, records of food purchases, inventories and staff performance summaries.
F. Participate in facility committees as assigned by the Administrator.
G. Participate in facility and community education/in-service programs relevant to areas of responsibility.
H. Assist with agency emergencies as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
I.The Food Services Director has the opportunity to have unsupervised contact with the clients. All rules regarding client interactions must be strictly adhered to.
Qualifications:
Illinois certification in sanitation. Current Illinois licensed Dietitian or a certified Dietary Manager. One year experience in food services within a healthcare setting. Freedom from communicable disease. The successful entry-level applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check, have good attendance, a valid Illinois driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
Credentials:
Copy of Sanitation Certificate, copy of A.D.A. or D.M.A registration.
