Position Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant bookkeeping services for multiple clients across a variety of industries. This role requires strong client-facing skills, expert-level QuickBooks proficiency, while also handling complex bookkeeping tasks. The ideal candidate will excel at building and maintaining client relationships, identifying process improvements, and ensuring the highest level of service.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring exceptional communication and client satisfaction.
- Conduct regular client meetings (in-person or virtual) to review financial reports, discuss business performance, and address accounting needs.
- Provide proactive guidance on bookkeeping best practices, compliance requirements, and financial process improvements.
Bookkeeping & Technical Expertise
- Oversee and perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing.
- Utilize QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online at an advanced level, including customizing reports, troubleshooting issues, and implementing system efficiencies.
- Ensure proper classification of transactions in compliance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations.
- Assist clients in preparing for year-end tax filings and audits.
Operational Excellence
- Establish and maintain internal documentation of client processes.
- Identify opportunities for service expansion, such as payroll processing, bill pay, or management reporting.
- Work with firm leadership to implement new technology tools to improve efficiency and client experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Exceptional client service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts with competing deadlines.
- Experience in a CPA firm or professional services environment preferred.
