A successful Controller has two primary functions. The first is to take responsibility for overseeing the completion of internal control audits, focusing specifically on possible errors or fraud. The second function is developing and executing an operational strategy for the finance team's day-to-day activity. The controller manages monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounts. Controllers manage payables, receivables, payroll, controls, and interdepartmental communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business
- Supervise employees who work under the controller in preparing financial reports and budgets
- Assist management with important financial decisions
- Monitor a company's financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs
- Keep up to date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas
- Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing
REQUIREMENTS
- At least a bachelor's degree in human resources management or a relevant field experience
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
- 5 or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting of finance manager
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or a CA (charted accountant)
- Experience with auditing for a multi entity company
