Position Summary:
The Tax Associate will assist with the preparation of individual, business, and nonprofit tax returns, while also supporting client accounting needs as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited about working in a collaborative small-firm environment where your contributions truly matter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofits
- Assist with tax planning and projections for clients throughout the year
- Conduct research on tax issues and provide documentation and summaries for team and client use
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify tax-related questions
- Maintain organized client files in compliance with firm policies
- Stay up to date on relevant tax law changes and industry standards
- Support bookkeeping or accounting projects on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation (internship experience considered)
- Working knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to professionalism and client confidentiality
