POSITION: Teacher, Library and Digital Literacy
TO BE FILLED BY: September 2025
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach digital citizenship and media literacy to elementary school Deaf students.
Teach select elective courses to middle and high school Deaf students or monitor study halls.
Use materials, resources, and current technology to align curriculum and instruction to New York State (NYS) Next Generation Standards and prepare students for required NYS assessments.
Manage day-to-day library operations, including collection development, cataloging, and circulation.
Maintain an organized, welcoming, and inclusive library environment.
Curate a diverse and current collection of print and digital resources aligned with curriculum goals.
Participate in weekly team meetings and work collaboratively with other school personnel to develop programs, behavior management techniques, and strategies for student success.
Write and implement student Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Deaf or Special Education.
New York State certification as a teacher or the ability to obtain the same.
Experience in school library management and digital literacy instruction
Ability to write and present educational materials and lesson plans using excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and work with students with multiple exceptionalities.
Advanced Rating on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI).
SALARY RANGE:
$42,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience and education as negotiated with the Teacher Union
10-month exempt position
