Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will work full-time at Harpers Place, a 15-bed residential unit that operates as a 24-hour hospital diversion program for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The BHT will provide direct care to clients, monitor their physical and emotional well-being, and respond to their needs and concerns. They will work under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to help clients achieve recovery.
Responsibilities
- Supervise client behaviors and activities at all times
- Monitor physical and emotional well-being of clients
- Respond to all patient needs and concerns
- Record observations regarding client behavior, mental status, and care
- Report observations to treatment staff
- Provide input for treatment plans
- Implement goals of treatment plans
- Encourage or assist as needed with personal hygiene care and other activities of daily living
- Administer medications and maintain records in accordance with specified procedures
- Transport clients to appointments as needed
- Plan and implement recreational and educational individual and group activities as assigned by treatment staff
- Supervise visitation activities, including checking visitors, checking for contraband, and monitoring behavior during visits
- Responsible for keeping work area clean, tidy, and in order
- Admit and discharge clients
- Monitor vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 of age
- Must pass TB test, urine drug test, physical test, caregiver and criminal history background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Experience in behavioral health preferred
