Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Inspector.
Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our West Jordan, Utah location and reports to the Quality Manager.
Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector inspects a range of components, parts, and/or products for the area assigned as prescribed by all applicable specifications and quality assurance instructions. Identifies moderately difficult quality issues in design, process, or other inefficiencies to meet quality requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards.
- Performs visual inspections of molded components, mechanical inspections of mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
- Prepares and completes all necessary documented information for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items including receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
- Identifies design, process, or other inefficiencies and reports quality concerns and issues.
- Performs routine quality inspections on engineering designs, assemblies, piece parts, final assemblies, and tooling.
- Assists with and/or conducts internal, source, customer, surveillance, and registration audits including corrective actions.
- Prepares, scans, and archives quality records ensuring legibility prior to archiving.
- Performs configuration management activities to ensure evidence of completion and compliance to requirements.
- Audits the production floor to ensure documented information is controlled, adequate, being adhered to, and properly completed per requirements.
- Audits calibrated measuring equipment to ensure equipment is identified, properly handled/stored, ready for use, in tolerance, and within calibration due date.
- Controls discrepancies ensuring proper identification, containment, disposition, determines cause and need for corrective action including effectivity, and documented information control.
- Programs and operates the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) (i.e. Romer Arm, Leica Laser Tracker) to effectively measure different products.

Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma/GED is required
- Composites manufacturing experience a big plus
- Must possess strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills and be able to work effectively across all areas of the business.
- Current computer literacy is a must, including full proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- 5 years of relevant experience
Skills:
- Ability to follow established work instructions and procedures with minimal supervision
- Able to apply a systematic quality assurance approach while using existing procedures to solve a range of technical issues
- Skilled at measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by job assignment
- Capable of following instructions and applying processes and procedures to standard routine tasks
- Must be able to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, including engineering drawings, charts, diagrams, and sketches
- Proficient computer skills
- Perform basic dimensional inspection of parts and assemblies produced
- Organized, self-motivated, strong attention to detail, and high level of accuracy
Other Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
- Lifting and bending will be required.
