NON-EXEMPT JOB DESCRIPTION
AS OF July 2021 GRADE LEVEL: IV
TITLE: Fitness Center Floor Staff ASSOCIATION: Rockland County YMCA
DEPARTMENT: Health and Fitness
SUPERVISOR: Vice President Membership and Fitness
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Provide members and guests with a positive and enjoyable workout experience
Must display outstanding customer service, be friendly, helpful and attentive to those working out in the fitness area
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent (preferred)
Certified in CPR & First Aid
Previous experience in a health club/hospitality environment preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Uphold all standards set by the Department of Health regarding the cleaning and sanitizing the equipment between members.
- Assist members in achieving their fitness goals
- Know and enforce all YMCA program policies procedures and rules
- Be able to answer members’ questions, concerns and complaints in a timely and courteous manner
- Position yourself in the fitness center to greet everyone – ask if you can offer assistance
- Build relationships with members by learning their names and engaging with them
- Supervise all fitness activities and provide safe,, effective exercise instruction
- Conduct orientation and assist members who are unfamiliar with fitness equipment
- Report to work on time and in uniform (staff shirt, comfortable pants)
- Follow cleaning procedures daily – Monitor supplies that need to be refilled
- Respond to and document incidents, accidents and emergencies appropriately
- Periodically move through the building to gymnasium, cardio room and dance studio
- Work with fellow staff members and treat them with dignity and respect
- Restock towels in Cycle room
- Circulate the laundry/towels as needed
