What you will do in this role:
- Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications and/or feature sets.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code and libraries for future use.
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Optimize for speed and scalability.
- Perform front-end user input validation where appropriate before submitting to back-end services.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
How you will thrive in this role:
- 3-5 years' experience in Java, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems.
- Solid understanding and experience in object-oriented programming.
- Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
- Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java.
- Experience with REST, JSON, popular Java-based web application frameworks. Apache Wicket is a plus.
- Experience with relational databases, with solid grasp of SQL & JDBC. Ability to design & maintain complex SQL queries, create & enhance well-designed schemas.
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
- Implementation of automated testing platforms and unit tests, "smart" test driven design.
- Experience with build & versioning tools like Ant, Maven, Gradle, Mercurial & Git.
- Experience with Linux operating systems very helpful.
- Experience with client-side JavaScript & frameworks, especially jQuery, and AJAX.
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Experience in responsive web UI design.
- Experience with designing web pages for accessibility, ADA & WCAG compliance, a plus.
- Experience with the full Jakarta EE technology stack, with emphasis on stateless session beans, message driven beans.
- Experience with the Wildfly / JBoss application server is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Position performance will require the regular physical ability to walk and function in elevation changes by the means of self-propulsion, to include steps, ladders, and varied walking and working surfaces. Ability to negotiate warehouse work areas in a safe manner and behavior. Vision abilities specific to the position will include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Performing in this role will require the use of hands to use and handle tools, objects, materials, and controls. Performance requires the frequent ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will need to be able to read, write, and understand basics of the English language. Employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and up to 45 pounds assisted or if capable.
