POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant position requires an experienced accountant to perform moderately complex accounting activities relating to maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger accounts, financial statements, and managerial reports. This position creates journal entries and prepares internal management reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITILES:
General Ledger
- Responsible for preparing journal entries, including prepaids, accruals, and deferrals of various types across all entities
- Partner with other departments as needed
- Responsible for preparing detailed reports and monthly account reconciliations.
- Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing within a set calendar
- Ensure financial statement accuracy by developing accruals; reconciling account balances, creating journal entries; and reviewing financial reports within tight month-end deadlines.
Other
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Help identify areas for process improvements and assist in implementing changes.
- Assist with development of accounting policies and procedures in all areas of responsibility and ensure controls are adequately designed to achieve control objectives.
- Assist in the automation of accounting processes where applicable to roll out new, more efficient, controlled processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and policies and procedures.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customers who have questions related to Accounting.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for all areas of responsibility
- Prepare GAAP compliant transactions for all areas of responsibility
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 1 year experience in accounting related work is required.
- Highly detail oriented and organized.
- Strong analytical skills, with ability to research and reconcile accounts
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with any large ERP system, SAP preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an internal customer service focus.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
- Must be skilled in use of MS Word and must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department & documentation of processes/procedures.
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

Salary Range: $63,200 - $100,000
The pay range represents the low and high end of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.
