We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our team in Columbia, SC. This position will primarily support a team of two attorneys, who are located in our Charleston office and one administrative assistant in the area of medical malpractice litigation. The ideal candidate will be an experienced paralegal with a strong understanding of medical malpractice law and a commitment to providing high-quality legal support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in all stages of medical malpractice litigation, including case preparation, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Draft, proofread, and revise legal documents such as complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring that all documentation is current and properly filed.
  • Communicate with clients, medical professionals, and experts as needed.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries of medical records, depositions, and other relevant information.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including preparing exhibits and trial notebooks.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Manage deadlines and assist with the case management process to ensure timely progress.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent education and experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
